The MSE method

How a mandate reports

Every week in writing. Execution at once. The file handed over as it is made.

The cadence

One rule for the life of the mandate

When a principal hears from MSEFigure · one
  1. Every week

A written report, on the same day each week, for as long as the mandate runs. A week that produced nothing says so, and says why.

  2. The same day it happens

Execution, an approval obtained, terms agreed with a counterparty, and any instruction MSE needs from you. These do not wait for the weekly report.

  3. At close

The closing statement, and the complete file - handed over as it was made, not assembled at the end.

Art. 426 of the Swiss Code of Obligations: give the principal the reports the matter requires, and notify execution at once. Art. 400, applied to commission by Art. 425: account for everything received, and hand it over. Reporting is the agent’s duty, not his courtesy.

The report

Six standing items

What the weekly report carriesFigure · two
  1. 01PositionWhere the transaction stands on the five phases.
  2. 02MovementDocuments issued, counterparties approached, approvals obtained, cargo positions.
  3. 03Open itemsWhat is open, and who holds it - MSE, the principal, or a named third party.
  4. 04DecisionsWhat the principal must decide, and the date each is needed by.
  5. 05AccountNothing is committed without the principal’s prior approval. The report sets each approved amount against what was actually spent.
  6. 06NextThe next actions, with dates.
A week with nothing to report says so, and says why. A quiet week is information.

The documents

Three routes, and one that is shut

Where confidential material movesFigure · three

The principal’s systems

His own domain, his own retention, his own access log.

A named data room

Of his choosing, under his contract with the provider.

The bank’s channel

Where the financing bank already carries the file.

A client portal

MSE does not operate one. Confidential material is not kept on a website.

Deliberate: what protects a mandate is a small number of people accountable in person, not a larger surface to defend.

At close

Three things are handed over

What the principal holds when the mandate endsFigure · four

The closing statement

What was executed, on what terms, the commission due and how it was calculated.

The complete file

Contracts, correspondence, certificates, surveys - handed over as they were made, not at the end.

The capability

The counterparties, the documentary spine, the bank that now knows the name.

Every report is written and signed by the person running the mandate. No account team stands between the principal and the work.
