MSE Capability
Physical Logistics & Freight
MSE designs and administers the physical movement of metal — multimodal inland, ocean freight, transhipment, port handling and storage — so that cargo reaches the customer intact, on time, and without avoidable demurrage.
In physical commodities, the margin is made in the contract and lost in the logistics. Every transhipment, every day of port storage, every loading scheme is a point where cost leaks and quality is put at risk.
Where value leaks
Where the margin is lost in handling
Demurrage absorbed, not controlled
Laytime, vessel turnaround and wagon cycles run unmanaged, and the charges are absorbed rather than recovered. This is recoverable money left on the table every shipment.
A loading scheme that fails in transit
Cargo is packed and loaded without regard to the number of transhipments, the storage in ports, or the discharge method. Damage occurs not in production but in handling.
Multimodal handoffs with no owner
Rail to port to vessel to customer — each leg known, the consolidated movement owned by no one. The cargo is visible until it is between modes.
Port handling outside specification
Loading and discharge schemes not enforced at the port. The metal arrives damaged; the claim arrives later.
Freight booked on price, not on fit
The cheapest freight on a route that does not suit the cargo, the schedule or the discharge port costs more than it saves.
How MSE works
The movement designed as one system
The movement is designed against the cargo and the route as a single system — packing and loading schemes built around the number of transhipments, the storage profile and the discharge method, not around a warehouse’s convenience. Laytime, demurrage and detention are actively managed and recovered rather than absorbed. Across the chain, MSE owns the multimodal handoffs and enforces port handling to specification, so the cargo is accounted for at every point — including between modes.
Track record
MSE has administered multimodal and ocean logistics across a $4.5B+ physical book — cutting demurrage by 40% while holding on-time-in-full delivery between 84% and 96%.
Mandate format
How an engagement is structured
Advisory mandate
Logistics and freight structuring: routing, packing and loading design, port-handling specification and demurrage strategy.
Execution mandate
Administration of the movement end to end, including transhipment, port handling, storage and demurrage recovery.
Engaged as a commission agent under the Swiss Code of Obligations, Art. 425–438. Fee structure — retainer and/or success fee — agreed per mandate.
Engage MSE
Discuss a mandate
If cargo, demurrage or transhipment is costing you margin, MSE will take the movement end to end.
